When multiplying the top, you get 4,096, and then you get the same thing for the bottom. The fraction is just 1 because the top and bottom are equal

2^2 is equal to itself, so we can cross them out. Then 4^2 equals 2^4, so we can cross them out. 8^2 is 64, but 2^8 is 256. Our fraction is now 64/256, which when simplified is 1/4.
