On a number line suppose point E has a coordinate of -2 and EG =10 what are the possible coordinates of point G ?

| E - G | = EG

| -2 - G | = 10

-2 - G = 10                 -2 - G = -10

   - G = 12                      - G = -8

     G = -12                       G = 8

Answer: -12 or 8
