Three unit's would be the numbers:

1, 2 and 3.


Any number you choose must be greater than 3 for example:

5, 8 or 10

The numbers more than 3 units means their distance from zero is more than 3

This implies that either

or

[tex] - x > 3[/tex]
[tex] \Rightarrow x < - 3[/tex]

The solution set is the inequality
