Jordan and dion went apple picking. Jordan picked 8 9/10 of apples and dion picked 9 6/10 of apples. When they got home they put all the apples in one container. How many pounds of apples did they put in the container?

Multiply 8 by 9/10. That is 72/10
Multiply 9 by 6/10. That is 54/10.
Add 72/10 and 54/10 together that is 126/10 or 12.6 apples.
