x -1÷8 = 20 :

x - 1 / 8 = 20  ( multiply both sides by 8 ) :

x * 8 - 1/8 * 8 = 20 * 8

Refine:

8 x - 1 = 160  ( add  1 to both sides : )

8 x - 1 + 1 = 160 + 1

8 x = 161

Divide both sides by 8 :

8 x /8  = 161/8

x = 161 / 8  decimal = 20.125

hope this helps!
