First, you need to find the common denominator. 1/6 and 7/12.    6 is a factor of 12 so multiply 6 * 2. Do the same to the numerator. 1/6 = 2/12. Then you can add. 2/12 plus 7/12 = 9/12. That can be simplified. The GCF of both is 3. 9/3= 3 12/3=4. So your answer is 3/4. Hope that helps.
