If your talking about the civil war, many railroads, farms, and buildings were destroyed. Their financial system was ruined, and confederate money was useless.
Railroad, farms, and building were destroyed which caused them their financial system to get ruined and the money in the confederate was very much useless - hope this helps sorry if I’m wrong
