The reason why is because of a the population on Earth. If we can find a way to make Mars a suitable place for humans and even animals to live, we can drop the population on Earth so we don't use as many resources, and the Earth can last longer. There would also be less pollution, toxic waste, etc.. This is why I think we should try to set up colonies on Mars or other planets :)
