Presently, the largest organism on earth is the fungus named Armillaria ostoyae which measures 2.4 miles in diameter across the mountain of Oregon. It was discovered in Oregon, USA in 1998. It is a honey fungus and it is parasitic in nature. It usually colonizes and kill trees and woody plants.
