4x^2 -8x + 3
4*3 = 12
Factors of 12 that add to -8 and -6 and -2. Replace the -8x with -6x and -2x then factor by grouping.
4x^2 -2x -6x +3
2x(2x - 1) -3(2x -1)
(2x-1)(2x-3)
