The reconstruction affected the south because after the civil war radical republicans believed the south should be punished for seceding from the union. those radical republicans put sc under military rule. There was a farmer movement to help the economy because sc lost all of its work force when the african americans were emancipated. there was also lots of racial tension in the south.
