Some historians regard the Seven Year War (1756 -1763) as the first world war. The war involved many of the largest world powers at the time, including France, Russia, Sweden, and Austria on one side and Britain, Prussia, and Hanover on the other. The war was fought in multiple continents affected those in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America.
