Set the number to x.

[tex]\frac{x}{3}-\frac{x}{4}=20[/tex]
[tex]\frac{4x}{12}-\frac{3x}{12}=20[/tex]
[tex]\frac{x}{12}=20[/tex]
[tex]x=240[/tex]

Thus, the number is 240.
