While you didn't really provide any specific idea or theory, I can tell you that the easiest way of spotting a scientific theory would be that it makes a certain prediciton which can be tested empirically in an experiment. It isn't making claims that cannot be tested and aren't testable or falsifiable. If it doesn't look like that then it isn't a scientific theory.
