Why is democracy actually better at organizing for war than a dictatorship despite the fact that a dictatorship can force individuals to work?

Democracy provides a much larger pool of knowledge and opinions that may be helpful, since there is freedom of speech and the peoples views are heard. Plus, there is accountability.
However, in dictatorship there is only a single voice and command.
